How to Make Money Blogging in Ten simple steps

Is It Really Possible To Make Money Blogging?

It is still possible to make money blogging and I'll break it down for you in ten simple steps.

Blogging is becoming a very popular activity among many different people, for a number of various reasons.

Some people use blogging as a way to share their personal life with the world. Others choose to use blogging to promote their business or a particular product.

Whatever the reason, not many people are aware that blogging can be used as an excellent way to make money. It's also not that difficult to get people to your blog if you know what you are doing.

These tips below are super easy! The majority of them requiring little work at all which is always an added bonus. You can either choose to try one, two or all of them for maximum results. It really is up to you how you choose to do it.

Step 1: Become an Affiliate

Affiliate marketing is such a simple yet easy way to send cash your way, which requires hardly any work.

All you have to do is contact a business or company selling a particular product or service, and if they agree to partner with you they will send you a unique link that you can display on your blog. It is helpful if the product is something that your target audience would be interested in, not something completely random and unrelatable to the people your blog is reaching. Every time somebody clicks on that link and purchases a product from that business, you will receive a commission.

The best thing about becoming an Affiliate is that it is a win-win situation, for you, the buyer and the seller. Affiliate programs are becoming more and more popular, so either check out a business's website or directly contact them. Express your interest in partnering with them. This is a very simple way to make money blogging.

Step 2: Sell Digital Products

Sell digital products such as Apps, eBooks, online courses, music, videos, and photos. This one does require a little more effort, but it is one hundred percent worth it as it is a great way to have a constant income. It is also important that the digital product that you are selling is relevant to your audience, in order to maximize the amount of interest you receive.

A great point about selling digital products is that you get to choose the price you sell the product for. It is up to you to create special discounts, promotions, etc.

If you don't have the time to write a book or create a launch, pay someone else to do it for you. It may be a bit of a risky gamble in the beginning, but I think it could be an investment that you will never look back on.

If you do choose to buy content from someone, make sure you are allowed to sell the material. Copyright infringement is a serious issue you do not want to get into trouble with!

Step 3: Advertisements

There are many companies that will pay you to place their ads on your digital platform. Cost per click (CPC) is one of the most used methods. How it works is easy! Every time somebody clicks on an ad located on your blog you receive a small amount of money.

Google Adsense is definitely the most popular platform that people use to make money blogging, but there are loads of other options to choose from. The amount of money you earn differs on the service provider as well as the type of ad. Most ads will give you a few cents per click generally. This way does take a little more time than others, but clicks will eventually add up over time.

It also helps if the content of the advertisements are relevant to your target audience. This is something that many platforms will allow you to choose from. That way you can almost be guaranteed for people to click on the ads upon visiting your blog.

Step 4: Reviews & Sponsored Posts

This one is super fun; definitely more exciting than the others. For reviews and sponsored posts, all you have to do is get in touch with a business that sells a product or service.

It is up to you to try out the particular product/service and then provide a review which you will get paid for. This type of blog post is great for trying out new things and creating new opportunities within your digital platform.

The only catch is that you probably want to make sure you are writing positive reviews, as I don't think many businesses would pay for someone to write negative reviews about them...

This particular method isn't always the most reliable way to make money blogging but can be a great way to receive free products. After all, everyone loves free things, right?

Step 5: Donations

If the majority of the content on your blog is free, asking for donations can be a great way to make some money. By simply asking for donations in order to keep your content available to the public, those that are loyal to your blog will most likely want to do whatever it takes to keep your content around.

Asking for donations will not necessarilly make you look needy - in-fact most people will be more than happy to want to help out and support you. A few dollars here and there will eventually add up in time, so do not overlook this simple yet effective method when writing your blog.

I have never done this step personally but I know bloggers who have and it worked for them. This isn't the best way to make money blogging because you won't make much. It still might be something to consider

Step 6: Subscriptions

Many blogs and other digital platforms run some kind of subscription or membership program.

For a small amount of money paid by a weekly or monthly basis, customers can be promised exclusive content. This could be newsletters, recipes, web seminars, additional blog posts, etc.

It is important that if you do this the content is at a high quality, otherwise, you run the risk of having to deal with unhappy customers complaining that they aren't getting their money's worth. If people love your content so much, they will most likely want to see more of you so subscriptions are a great way to do this. You should implement this step only if you really enjoy writing.

Step 7: YouTube

If you have a successful blog but want to take it to the next step, YouTube can be the way to do this. Simply post videos of the same or similar content that is on your blog, and YouTube will pay you a small amount of money for every view you receive. These videos could be Q and A's, tutorials, vlogs or anything that you like.

YouTube is a brilliant way for your audience to get to know you on a deeper level and is fantastic when blogging is also combined. This is definitely not for everyone but is something that you should consider.

In order for you to be eligible for monetization on YouTube, you need to build up your channel first.

My preference is to make videos that teach your viewers something and then to post a link to your blog for more details. When on your blog you will present the person with some more information and an offer.

If you don't like teaching, another alternative is to make a video review of a product or service. In the video description you place your affiliate link so that people can click and be sent to the offer. If they make a purchase, you get paid. Of all the steps listed YouTube is one of the most powerful to help you make money blogging. Don't ignore this one! I recommend you try it for yourself.

YouTube is a great way to get free traffic to your blog. Definitely one of my favourites besides Pinterest, which is also excellent.

Step 8: Freelancing

Freelancing is a very popular way for people to make money through their writing skills.

All you have to do is connect with a person in need of some kind of content being created, and you get paid for completing or assisting with their projects. At first, it can be a bit daunting and difficult finding clients by yourself, but websites such as iWriter, Fiverr and Upwork make it easy.

The amount of money you receive will vary from gig to gig, but most of the time you get to select how much you want to be paid.

Freelancing isn't just for bloggers. Skills such as photography, editing, design, etc. are also brilliant ways to freelance and make money. When you have a blog you can showcase your services and it will seem much more professional to potential clients then someone who is just on a platform like Fiverr for example.

Step 9: Create a Private Community

There are many free private online communities out there. If you are going to charge a fee your content must be great. Try to be specific when advertising what your group will be about. You need to provide valid reasons why people should pay money to join your group.

This is similar to step #6 but this is not a membership or subscription to your blog. It will be another website that you create for this. A private training group for paying members.

Step 10: Sell Merchandise

Have lots of fans? Chances are they would love for you to create some merchandise for them to purchase. This could be clothing, jewelry, makeup, stationary or anything that you can add a spin to. Add a bit of personalization.

Leading up to the launch of your merchandise, it is a great idea for you to advertise your product in an attempt to excite your audience. You need to get your product out there so that as many people can hear about it as possible.

So as you can see, there are many ways to make money blogging. You can choose to just do one step at a time. If you want to maximize your results, I recommend you start doing multiple steps for best results.

Some things might prove to be successful while others might be a bit touch and go, to begin with. However, if you stick with it and give it your all, there is no reason whatsoever that should prevent you from making a decent income from blogging. After all, if you can make money by sitting at home in your pajamas writing blog posts, I think that is pretty great.

  • Wow finally useful post! Thank you for this..i spend a monthes to get less informations than you included in your post! I wish I read this sooner…really keep ur writting, one day you will be a TOP blogger 🙂

  • Very useful content sir and definitely appreciated. I thank you, I am just starting on this journey and I am trying to transfer my elite work ethic from the physical laboring on a pipeline for literally 80+ hours a week and crushing that, to finding a way to crush this scene as well. I signed up for your e-book and I try to consume as much information as I possibly can. I have been in the learning phase for too long and need to start implementing the things that I am capable of at this point. Do you or anyone reading this have any words of wisdom of how to force myself to implement things even if they aren’t perfect??? I truly appreciate the fact that your willing to help people in my situation, Thank you so much!

    • Hi John,

I can relate to working a physically laboring job. I worked for many years in construction and I worked for several years on the patch (oil Fields) in Northern Alberta. I use to be away months at a time working. I had no family so that made it a little easier being away.

Now I work from home and have much more time to do the things I want. It wasn’t easy in the beginning. I tried hundreds of things over the years and almost none of the things I tried worked.

The best advice I can give you is DO NOT GIVE UP!!! You will feel like it but don’t. Keep working at it and you will succeed. People who don’t succeed online quit too early.

It takes work which I can see you are not afraid of. Just keep working at it. Don’t worry about trying to be perfect at everything you are working on. Just do it and you’ll get better and it will become easier.

One of the best things I did for my business was learning how to create and launch my own products. I learned from one of the best marketers online. His name is John Thornhill. He is a well-known Internet Marketer. I will include a link at the end of this reply for a Free Webinar that John is hosting where he will teach you how to finally become successful online. It’s what helped me to be able to make a full-time income online.

If you are willing to work at it which it seems you are then this webinar will show you how to succeed online. Here is the link to the Free Webinar

I love the part where (in your comment) you said, “One of the best things I did for my business was learning how to create and launch my own products. I learned from one of the best marketers online”.

I think I am looking forward to creating products too.

I will keep checking back at your blog.

Your website is clean and easy to navigate. I like that.

  • Thank you, this will immensely help me achieve my dream job! I’m thinking about ways to create a subscription program or digital product.
